About Zee

You’ll probably learn more about me and my personality by reading my posts; so what this page amounts to is an itemized list of my medical conditions. This doesn’t really tell you anything about me per se, but it does serve as a kind of catch-all to the inevitable medical questions that come up, and that I only have the energy to go through ONCE. This list is not who I am, as much as it’s what I deal with and why I face certain challenges in an ableist world.

  • Crohn’s disease (originally diagnosed as Ulcerative Colitis in early 1990s; diagnosis changed in 2008)

  • Rectovaginal fistula, incomplete fistulas (2008)

  • planned for 2018: Proctectomy with j-pouch removal and ileostomy revision

Random challenges from above:

  • Various vitamin and mineral deficiencies because of short bowel syndrome and chronic immune deficiency, including anemia, Vitamin D and B12 deficiencies, magnesium, calcium and others
  • Electrolyte imbalances and chronic dehydration
  • Mobility issues and muscle weakness from arthritis (ankylosing spondylitis) and motor neuropathy
  • Poor body temperature management
